Forest Green Rovers Preview

Tomorrow afternoon we face Forest Green Rovers at The New Lawn. Last time we went there we drew 1-1 in the FA Cup 1st round, Scott Garner scoring in the last minutes of the game.

10 days later we played them at Field Mill in a replay and this time we were on the end of a late goal. Heckingbottom slid to cut out a cross and the ball ended up in the back of the net. Bad times. We owe these one for knocking us out of the cup so early.

They are a side who play football and if given the time and space will create lots of opportunities and cause us a lot of problems. Tomorrow we need to pressure them at all times and make sure we are in their faces. Conal Platt is their danger man. He plays on the left flank so Silky will have a job on his hands to keep him quiet all game. If we succeed in keeping Platt quiet we can win this game with ease.

I hope Holdsworth goes for a pacey team tomorrow. Briscoe and Williams on the wings and Speight partnering either Duffy or Perry upfront. That forward line is enough to cause any team problems in this division. Foster and Jones at the back with Silky and Armstrong either side will provide a good solid base for us. Foster looks an absolute beast and he should be able to eliminate any attacking thread that they manage to muster up.

I really, really hope he starts with Jake Speight. This guy deserves a good run in the team and after last weeks performance he surely can’t be dropped can he?! Him and Duffy linked up brilliantly last week and I hope DH picks them both again as they will cause no end of problems.
