Marriott extends stay
Englands number one, is sure to be ringing around Field Mill for at least another 2 seasons after Alan Marriott yesterday signed a contract extension until 2012. The former Lincoln City and Rushden and Diamonds shotstopper said we was more than happy to sign his second contract extension since joining us a year ago.
Marriott has firmly established himself in the squad since joining us from Rushden and Diamonds a year ago. In my time watching the Stags he is by far and away the best keeper I have ever seen play for Mansfield. He has also established himself as a fans favourite. In his recent interview he said he loved the fans and the club and wanted to see out his career here at Mansfield.
He sees Mansfield as the perfect place for him, a good family club with a lot of ambition. It is brilliant news that he is really enjoying his time with us as he is such a key figure in our promotion push. If he keeps up his recent form I can see him going down as a bit of a legend just as he is at Lincoln City.

In other news the Stags have signed Jon Shaw from Rochdale on a 18 month deal. Shaw is 6ft 1 striker who boasts 1 goal to every 4 games played at this level.
