Duffy on the way out?

2010 May 20

Rob Duffy could be on the way out of Mansfield Town to return to one of his former clubs if rumours are to be believed that are going around on several different sites.

Duffy is rumoured to have held talks with Newport County, the club he left to join us 18months ago. This is the news that I didn’t want to hear. A lot of people don’t rate Duffy and I cannot understand why. Well, I can kind of understand because he doesn’t run a round a hell of a lot but he scores goals that is a strikers job. His goals scored to games played ratio over the 18months he has been with us is brilliant. 57 games played and 23 goals scored which is a ratio of a goal every 2 games he has played (nearly anyway!).

If anybody should be heading out the door to make room for another striker it is Kyle Perry. 9 goals in 40 games for us is just not good enough. Not only that but he has picked up a terrible habit of diving every time a defender comes within a 5 yard radius of him. It rarely works and he sulks and rolls around on the floor. Hopefully Duffy will make the wise choice and stop with us and prove a lot of people wrong next season.

If this is true it looks like Holdsworth is trying to free up some money to bring in another player. As I posted earlier today he is chasing Luke Beckett but he said wages could be stumbling block…
