The last week or so..

All 8 out of contract players have left Field Mill, plus Andy Burgess has left by mutual consent.

Scott Gardner, Paul Heckingbottom, Luke Jones, Craig Armstrong, Jon Challinor,  Blair Sturrock, Oliver Hotchkiss and Michael Brough were all told that they were not going to be offered a new deal at Mansfield Town. Andy Burgess has left by mutual consent because he has recently moved and is travelling 2-3 hours a day to get to Mansfield.

I’m not surprised by the majority of them leaving because they have all been in and out of the side but I thought DH would have kept either Luke Jones or Michael Brough. Burgess has looked good when he played against us but didn’t really do anything for us. I’ve said it a lot of times, he is not quick enough to play on the wings.

Last week we closed our Centre Of Excellence because we can’t afford to keep it going any longer. There has been no official news on this but players parents have been on the messageboard and posted that they have been told it is going to be closed. It looks like we are are putting all our money into the first team to try and get promotion. It’s disappointing news but I hope the extra money we save from it can help us get back up to the FL then it can be re opened with the funding we would receive.

DH has said that he isn’t close to signing any players yet and there isn’t many rumours flying around either. The only one I’ve heard is that Jake Speight is possibly leaving to join a League One club. The early bird offer for season tickets has now finished and we’ve managed to sell over a 1,000! I’ve not got mine yet but I shall be purchasing one for the Quarry Lane End to watch our championship winning team next season. =)

It has been a relatively quiet week. The players are back in training already so I expect to see some movement in the transfer window soon. Hopefully we can pull off some decent signings and boost the season ticket numbers!
